Wanderlust: Songs of Travel, Solitude and Homecoming

Wanderlust -- the yearning to travel, to discover new places and cultures, to find inner peace. And yet, home calls us back, especially when loved ones await.

This recital program integrates a set of readings from the poetry and prose of early 20th Century poet, Rainer Maria Rilke. A romantic spirit, Rilke grew up in Prague and in his adult life travelled to Russia (to meet Tolstoy), Paris (where he was secretary to Rodin), Spain, and Italy, among others. He died in Switzerland in 1926 at the age of 51.
